Wind Symphony
As a child, the artist feared the wind’s eerie nocturnal song, seeking refuge in their parents’ room. Their mother comforted them with tales of "Vento Uivante" (Whistling Wind), a gentle character who turned gusts into soothing melodies. This shift from fear to appreciation now shapes the artist’s practice, exploring unnoticed whispers of sound.
In Wind Symphony, the virtual experience begins in a field of vibrant wildflowers under a purple-orange dawn. Floating windows hover in the air, inviting interaction. Opening a window triggers wind sounds. The wider it opens, the louder the wind, each window adding layers to the symphony. One window becomes a portal to a foggy, colorless nightscape of floating windows and dim light poles. Your voice shapes the wind, making the windows respond and emit your sounds. Returning to the field, the cycle closes. The work is in progress, with plans for two additional levels to expand the narrative and interaction.
In the Wind Symphony installation, the artist seeks to recreate the emotional state evoked by their mother’s tale. The piece features sheer curtains that serve as screens for projections of floating windows against a time-lapse of Brasília during a rainy day. The projections are accompanied by the sound of gusting wind, which evolves from unsettling to meditative and contemplative. The installation proposes a journey of transformation, turning something initially perceived as frightening into an experience of calm and reflection. Through this sensory environment, the artist invites viewers to embrace the transformative power of perception and sound.
