Guaraná explores the cultural and ecological significance of the guaraná plant through 3D animation and video projection. Rooted in Amazonian folklore, it retells the story of Maue, a cherished child whose life was taken by the jealous deity Jurupari. Guided by the deity Tupã, the grieving tribe planted Maue’s eyes, giving rise to the guaraná plant. Its fruit, resembling human eyes, symbolizes Maue’s enduring spirit and connection to nature.

The installation features blinking guaraná fruits on a glossy green leaf placed on a silver plate engraved with an iris motif, resting on a wooden table draped in white cloth. This tableau blends cultural memory and modern technology, inviting reflection on themes of observation, nature, and technology. Accompanied by ambient sounds, the work highlights the interplay of myth, ecology, and digital innovation, urging viewers to reconsider their relationship with the natural world.
